The officers also have a skill tree that can be improved over time, making them stronger as you advance. The game also forces you to keep the primary officer of each unit alive at all times as they are the only one able to order inventory, any stuff ordered will them be brought in by helicopter after about two minutes. Stances for the infantry also play an important role, for example lying down in some undergrowth gives you a huge upper hand as it renders you nearly invisible to the enemy. Snipers, riflemen, medics, engineers all must be used to the best of your ability in the right locations, long-range units now also play a much bigger part that they do in other RTS games. The single player campaign consists of 5 scenarios set in Somalia, Bosnia, Afghanistan, Colombia and Iraq. Joint Task Force puts gamers in the shoes of frontline forces who make it their job to take care of some of the world's most difficult and dangerous conflicts. If the vehicle still has passengers, players can use force to take the ride for their own. If a player's team becomes stranded, Joint Task Force allows for the commandeering of abandoned vehicles. Players take command of infantry, tanks, artillery, reconnaissance, and helicopters, through 20 missions based in South America, Central Asia, and the Balkans. Otherwise, they'll suffer a loss in public support, which stifles the cash flow that funds new units in battle. Under the watchful eyes of the media, the player's squad must execute missions tactically, without blowing up civilians or destroying random buildings. When conflicts arise, the Joint Task Force is there to counter the attack and bring peace to the area in turmoil.
